1. About Sloppy Stories

Sloppy Stories (SloppyStories.com) is an independent entertainment platform hosting AI-driven interactive narrative experiences. The platform currently includes three games:

  • The Butterfly Effect — a branching life-story game exploring alternate outcomes through AI-generated dark fiction.
  • Vibe Quest — a choose-your-own-adventure RPG with user-selectable content ratings.
  • The Life & Times of Sloppy Steve — an AI-generated narrative adventure featuring mature and adult-oriented content.

By accessing or using any part of this platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please leave the site immediately.

2. Age Requirements

The Life & Times of Sloppy Steve is restricted to users aged 18 and over. It contains AI-generated content that may include graphic violence, strong language, adult themes, disturbing imagery, and morally dark or ambiguous scenarios. By accessing that game you confirm you are at least 18 years old.

The Butterfly Effect contains dark and mature thematic content and is intended for users aged 16 and over.

Vibe Quest requires users to be at least 13 years old. Users can select a content rating at the start of each quest; higher ratings enable more mature themes. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising minors' use and content rating selection.

We do not knowingly allow users under 13 to access any part of this platform.

3. AI-Generated Content

All story text, character dialogue, narrative outcomes, and scene artwork on this platform are generated in real time by third-party artificial intelligence services (OpenAI GPT-4o and Replicate Flux Schnell). This content is entirely fictional.

  • AI-generated content may be inaccurate, inconsistent, unexpected, or offensive.
  • It should never be taken as factual information, advice, or endorsement.
  • We do not manually review, curate, or endorse any specific AI output.
  • Generated content may reflect biases inherent in the underlying AI models, which are outside our control.
  • The "good enough" quality of AI-generated content is intentional and part of the platform's aesthetic.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Sloppy Stories to:

  • Generate or distribute content that is unlawful in your jurisdiction.
  • Target, harass, bully, or defame real individuals.
  • Attempt to bypass, circumvent, or exploit content filters or safety systems.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate interactions with any part of the platform.
  • Extract, misuse, or expose API keys, server configuration, or proprietary logic.
  • Enter personal information, passwords, or sensitive data into any game input field.

5. Third-Party AI Services

All games on this platform rely on the following third-party AI services. Your use of Sloppy Stories also constitutes acceptance of their terms:

Text you enter into game input fields (character names, descriptions, custom scenarios, player actions) is transmitted to these providers as part of the AI generation process. Do not enter real personal information or sensitive data into game inputs.

6. Intellectual Property

  • Your inputs — names, descriptions, and prompts you type remain yours. You grant Sloppy Stories a limited licence to transmit them to third-party AI services solely to generate game content.
  • AI-generated output — the copyright status of AI-generated text and images is unsettled in many jurisdictions. We make no claim of exclusive ownership over AI outputs. You may use generated content for personal, non-commercial purposes.
  • Platform code and design — the Sloppy Stories site design, game mechanics, and source code (excluding AI outputs and third-party libraries) are proprietary. All rights reserved.

7. Service Availability

The platform depends on paid third-party AI services. It may become temporarily unavailable when API credit is exhausted, under maintenance, or for any other reason. A "Theatre Closed" notice will be displayed when the service is unavailable. We make no guarantee of continuous availability and are not liable for interruptions.

8. No Warranty & Limitation of Liability

Sloppy Stories is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform, including dissatisfaction with AI-generated content, story outcomes, or service interruptions.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
